CARE Associates Network Announces Its Inaugural Class of Wound Care Certified Specialists

On September 16th, 20 nurses from Skilled Nursing Facilities across NJ started their week-long journey to obtain their Wound Care Certification. The course, sponsored by CARE Associates Network, is being led by Allen Zagoren, DO, MPA, FACOS, FACN, WCC, FAPWCA. Dr. Zagoren, a physician educator from the Wound Care Education Institute (a division of Relias), is a board-certified trauma surgeon specializing in chronic and acute wound management. Meadow Lakes, a Springpoint Senior Living CCRC, is graciously hosting the course in their auditorium in East Windsor, NJ.

“CARE’s goal is to provide the resources necessary to have a wound-care specialist at each of our member facilities.” MaryAnne Scuderi, President and CEO of CARE Associates Network, implemented the new value-added service to enhance the high quality of care being provided by its member facilities. “Chronic wounds impact 10.5 million people in the U.S. and 60,000 patients die from pressure injuries each year according to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Having qualified staff at each of our facilities will ensure positive patient outcomes and we expect to see an overall reduction in re-admissions to the hospital.”

“We had a wonderful response from our network,” according to MaryAnne. “This inaugural class of RNs and LPNs represent many of CARE’s facilities across the state. We plan to offer other sessions to our member facilities in the coming months to give more nurses the opportunity to enhance their skills.”

CARE Associates Network would like to thank the following providers for allowing their staff the opportunity to attend this class: Bridgeway Senior Healthcare, Broadway House, Daughters of Israel, Concord Nursing and Rehabilitation, Family of Caring, The Jewish Home at Rockleigh, Springpoint Senior Living, Sunnyside Manor, United Methodist at the Shores, and Whitehouse Healthcare.
